Veronica laughed. Her father was effectively trapped, bound by tangled lengths of Christmas lights. Keith shot her a glance that was definitely not amused.
“Little help, here?”
“Hmm, I don’t know. I like you better this way.”
“If you don’t untangle me, I can’t buy you any presents.”
“What kind of presents? A pony?”
Keith just glared.
“Alright, fine, tough guy.”
Just as Veronica finished extricating her father, the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” She said, skipping to the door.
“Oh my God!” Veronica jumped into the arms of the person at the door.
“Miss me?” Wallace asked, highly amused.

"You don't want us to end up like some Lifetime movie, do you? Something like Mother, May I Sleep With My Step-Brother? would seriously damage my cred."
"But I don't want to kiss you," Wallace tried not to whine.
"Come on, do it for future mental stability," she said with a winning smile.
She grabbed his face, smooshing her mouth on his. He noted a pair of lips on his. He wondered how long this would take -- he had trigonometry homework to do.
Veronica pulled away and wrinkled her nose. "Don't take this the wrong way, but ew."
"See? Ditto."
"Aren't you glad that's settled? Now we can punch each other on the arm instead."

Veronica hugged Wallace. "I'm so glad you're here."
"I'm so sorry," he whispered.
"It's all right." Veronica let go and smiled, feeling happier than she had in a year. "Everything's going to be all right now."
Wallace’s cheeks were wet.
"What?"
"It's Logan," Wallace said robotically. "He's dead."

Wallace was wrong. Logan wasn’t dead; he just escaped. Veronica could smell him in the cold, salty wind, and feel him in the markings below her feet. The bug-eyed and bloated corpse he left proved he knew the meaning of Escape, and Veronica heard him whisper:
"Come, follow me."
Veronica followed.

This community began back in April, perhaps not the best time with the summer doldrums setting in so soon after its launch, but for whatever reason, it hasn't exactly taken off. So instead of posting a new topic, this week I'd like to poll members and see if there are things that would make the community work better and inspire more people to participate. If you have a few minutes, I'd really appreciate it if you'd give me your thoughts on these issues (and any other suggestions you may have) in the comments:
1. Do you feel that the basic logistics of the community work okay (when new topics are posted, length of time you have to answer the challenge, etc.) or would you like to see something different? Start on a different day of the week? Have more or less time? What would work for you? Please be specific.
2. Do you feel inspired by the challenge topics or are you looking for a different kind of prompt? Examples would be great.
3. Do you think the fandom benefits from this community or is ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif?v=92.2) veronica100 really enough?
I'm interested in your honest reactions. If there's something that could be changed for the better, I'm all for that. If it turns out there's not really a need for this community, I'm fine with that, too. Let me know what you think.
